About

I'm Lauren - beauty enthusiast, craft-a-holic, foodie, yogi, and general lover of all things artsy and creative. I'm not really sure what I want to be when I grow up, but one thing I'm sure of is that I've had a passion for all things beauty related for about as long as I can remember.

In the early days my beauty education came in the form of practicing french braids on my American Girl doll and drawing makeup on faces that I'd doodle in notebooks (which was the specific reason I begged by parents for the giant set of 75 Crayola colored pencils at Christmas).

As I got a bit older I eventually I traded in my burnt sienna "eyeliner" for one that I could put on a real face. In those days (circa the late 90s and early 2000s) my beauty collection involved A LOT of glitter, Cover Girl eyeshadow, Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers, and Victoria's Secret body lotions (Amber Romance, anyone?).

My college days brought me into the world of ballroom dance, which took my makeup and hair skills to a whole new level. I finally learned the importance of hair nets, how to correctly apply fake eyelashes, and the do's and don'ts of sunless tanner. There was also A LOT of glitter (and rhinestones).

And of course, now that I'm a bit older and out in the working world I've developed an appreciation for things like matte eyeshadow, natural and organic products, and mascara that can get me through a 10 hour day.

Even though my tastes have changed a bit throughout the years, my love for all things beauty related has always remained the same. I love trying new products, and am always on the quest for my personal Holy Grails. I also absolutely love to try my hand at different looks and perfect new techniques - from mastering a waterfall braid to a perfect cat eye. But most importantly, I love to share my passion for beauty with my friends and family. I will never turn down an opportunity to do someone's hair or makeup, and I will always be ready to recommend a favorite product to someone who's on the hunt for something new.

In the end, that is where my decision to create Little Blushing Birdie came from. I wanted to create a place where I could share all of my beauty-related musings, opinions, tips and tricks with not only my friends, but also my fellow beauty enthusiasts.  And of course, once I finally invested in a "big-girl camera" (aka a Canon Rebel T3i) and could actually photograph my latest finds and looks I decided that I really had no excuse.

I hope you'll find Little Blushing Birdie to be a helpful place to frequent, and maybe also a little entertaining too. I love to hear from my readers, so please send me comments and messages with your thoughts or questions!
