Spring Fling: Glossy Lip Colors to Love

I am SO READY to embrace all things spring. Give me sunshine. Give me flowers. And please for the love of all things good take my winter coat and bury it in the back of the closet. For me, this time of year is all about lightening up. Lightening up my clothes, lightening up my mood, and in the case of today's post, lightening up my lipstick. While I don't think the matte liquid lip trend is going anywhere anytime soon, I personally am in desperate need of a change. From sheer glosses, to creamy lipsticks I've been embracing a more cheerful, comfortable kind of lip product as per late. So if you're also craving a little springtime inspiration, here are a few of favorite lip products for channeling those vibes!

When it comes to lip products for spring, it's as much about texture as it is color for me. Not only am I ready to bust out my corals, pinks, and peaches, but I'm also swapping out heavy, fully opaque formulas for ones that are lighter and more buildable. A great product transition between seasons is the NYX Butter Lipstick in Midnight Swim ($5.99), which, while still providing a decent amount of color payoff, feels incredibly smooth and creamy on the lips. It leaves your lips with a beautiful satin finish, and is that type of pinky-purple shade that feels cheery without being overly bright or neon.

Another really awesome affordable option is the Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick in Pink Grapefruit ($8.99). This creamy lip crayon also has pretty decent pigmentation without being the tiniest bit waxy or heavy on the lips. It also smells as fruity and delicious as the name would suggest! You can easily throw this into your purse and reapply as needed throughout the day, as the soft pink color is very forgiving and easy to work with.

Speaking of pink, if you're looking to totally #treatyoself to a luxury splurge, there's nothing quite as stunning as the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipstick ($37). The iconic gold packaging on these lipsticks makes you legit feel like you're buying a little piece of art for your vanity. Compared to the original Rouge Pur Couture formula, this lipstick is intensely hydrating and leaves your lips with a more glossy finish. Also it smells like mangos (which is SO okay in my book). The only thing I will say is that I wish I had paid more attention when I was picking out a shade. I have #13, Pink in Paris, which, while an absolutely beautiful coral-toned pink, has a hint of shimmer in it that tends to irritate my lips a little bit.

Another wonderful splurge-worthy lip product I've been loving per late is the Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylo ($32). This takes the casual lip crayon and elevates it to a whole new level of sophistication. The formula is silky smooth and hydrating, and leaves your lips with a soft shine. I really love the shade Leader - a vibrant fuchsia - paired with a minimal eye for a really pretty statement look.

If you're looking to totally ditch the lipstick all together, there are also some seriously amazing lip glosses to reach for this spring. For a more full-color look, the NYX Lip Lustres ($6.99) are an awesome option that won't break the bank. These are truly more of a gloss-stain hybrid that will leave your lips with a wash of color long after the shine factor starts to fade. While there are a ton of fun colors to choose from, I'm partial to Juicy Peach, which is a more vibrant red-orange shade that is so perfect for the warmer weather.

For a slightly softer look, I absolutely adore the Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Tulip ($26). Not only is this the most lovely blue-based shade of pink, but it also feels incredible on the lips. It's got a very cushy, luxurious feel that isn't remotely sticky or goopy. You could easily layer this on top of a lipstick to add color and shine, or rock it entirely on its own!

For my peach-obsessed friends, I've also been having a lot of fun with the new Too Faced Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss ($19) collection. These are pretty traditional lip glosses, with tons of shine and moisture but not a whole lot of color payoff. I would definitely recommend watching a lip swatch video to figure out which shade you want to pick up, as it's hard to tell from looking at the pictures online exactly how they'll appear on the lips. I've got the shade Pure Peach, which is described as a peachy pink, but mostly looks like a clear gloss in actuality.

Last but certainly not least, if you're a fan of the plumping gloss effect, you definitely need to check out the Buxom Full-On Lip Creams ($20). Unlike the Buxom Lip Polishes, these lip glosses have zero shimmer, and are therefore way less likely to irritate your lips. They go on with that super cooling, tingly sensation, and give your lips an ultra shiny, full appearance. I've been all about the shade Mai Tai lately (a vibrant coral), which lets you channel your fiery inner salsa dancer vibes in a more subtle everyday kind of way.

Do you also like to change your makeup up with the seasons? What is your favorite color to wear in the spring? I always love to get recommendations from you guys, so let me know in the comments section down below what lip products you've been loving lately, or if any of the ones I've mentioned caught your eye!
