Falling in Love with L'Occitane
When it comes to prestige beauty brands, there are many that I make googley eyes at from afar, but don't have the cash to invest in. L'Occitane is one of those brands, with its cute packaging and fancy French names that induce a sigh of longing every time I pass outside the shop. And then, as luck would have it, Sephora offered a L'Occitane Favorites 500 point Beauty Insider reward. With four adorable minis of some of the brand's best selling products all tucked inside a chic little makeup bag, I was incredibly happy I hadn't redeemed any rewards in months. Finally, a little taste of L'Occitane would be mine.
Each of these samples is a teensy (and appropriately cute) replica of their full-sized counterparts. There's a mini tube of Shea Butter Hand Cream ($28), small bottles of Smoothing and Beautifying Supple Skin Oil with Almond Oil ($42.00) and Cleansing and Softening Shower Oil with Almond Oil ($25.00), and a jar of Immortelle Precious Cream ($62) with the same beautiful blue glass. While they may be small, each of these samples contains plenty of product for multiple uses, so I was definitely able to get a good feel for whether or not the full sized products would be worth the splurge.
I pretty much adore the smell of sweet almond oil, so it's not surprisingly that I fell in love with these two oils. The Shower Oil is thick and luxurious and has a slightly warming sensation as you lather it up. The Supple Skin Oil is light weight and quickly sinks into skin. Used together they leave you feeling incredibly soft and smelling glorious.
The Precious Cream is a thick, rich moisturizer with a botanical scent that can be used day or night. I personally find it a little heavy for daytime use, especially under makeup with my skin being on the oily side. However, it does feel really nice at bedtime if my skin needs extra hydration. The Shea Hand Cream is actually the one product in this set I've tried before and does feel really lovely on your hands. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the scent, which reminds me of baby wipes, but I know a lot of people love it. Since there are quite a few other versions of this hand cream that L'Occitane offers I'm curious to try another, since the formula is pretty darn nice (the almond version in particular is calling my name).
Long story short, I'm kind of smitten with this brand. I think the Almond Shower Oil is my favorite, and I'm definitely going to try to get my hands on a full-sized bottle. I've spotted this brand at Marshalls before, so maybe I'll get lucky and be able to snag one at a great price! If you know of any other ways to get deals on L'Occitane I'd love to hear about it, because let's face it, these products are kind of bank breakers. Also, if there are other products from the line you think are totally worth the splurge I'd love to hear about them!
