Ole Henriksen Truth Serum & Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil Reviews

One of the things I've realized upon reassessing my beauty stash is that I've got a multitude of products that I love and use that I've never actually written about. I'll mention them to my mom or friends, and certainly rave about them in my head, but it's about time that I clue you all in to the awesome. This powerhouse duo from Ole Henriksen is a perfect example.

I must admit that I'm not exactly an aficionado of Ole Henriksen skincare, but I did get hooked on the Truth Serum after receiving samples from a few different places. Luckily I stumbled upon a set which offered a 0.5 oz version of the Truth Serum along with a full sized version of the Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil in the sale section of the Sephora website. And let's face it, when you see half-priced luxury skincare, it's pretty difficult to pass up.

The Ole Henriksen pure truth youth activating oil ($45) is a super concentrated complex of plant oils that nourish, heal, and hydrate your skin. A peak at the ingredients list reveals only four things: Rosehip oil, Tangerine Peel Oil, Lemongrass Oil, and Vitamin E. Such a simple, natural formula makes me happy. The oil itself is bright orange in color and has a slightly thick feel to it. It has a pretty potent smell (predominantly the Rosehips) that I know is a turn off to some, but I personally don't mind it.

For an oil I don't feel like this product is particularly greasy. It sinks into skin and feels incredibly hydrating. It does, however, leave behind a bit of shine, so I prefer to use this product at night and let it do its healing magic while I sleep. As for said magic, I have to say that nightly use of this oil definitely helped to fade some of my blemish scaring, and made my face look more plumped and healthy. I also don't believe that it worsened or caused breakouts. While it's pretty expensive, one small bottle will definitely last a long time. A single pump was usually enough to cover my entire face.

Now, if the idea of slathering your face with oils still freaks you out, never fear! The Ole Henriksen truth serum collagen booster ($48.00, 1 oz) also delivers a nutrient rich formula that is completely oil-free.You can use it alone or layer it under the Pure Truth Oil for a double dose of nourishment. This lightweight orange serum smells like citrus heaven, and uses a potent blend of plant extracts to increase collagen production, fade scars, and restore moisture to your skin. I find that it has a bit of a sticky texture when you first apply it, but it quickly dries on the skin leaving an almost matte texture behind. For a while I was using this during the day prior to moisturizing, but now I like to use it at night under my Pure Truth Oil.

The combination of these two products has made my skin incredibly happy, especially during these super cold, dry winter months. By keeping my skin well hydrated I think I'm actually less prone to breakouts, and the scaring from old blemishes are fading more quickly. They've also definitely piqued my curiosity about the rest of the Ole Henriksen skincare line. If you're a fan, I'd love to hear your suggestions of other products to try next! I know my blogger friend Caitlin over at A Cheeky Fox has raved about the lemon strip flash peel, so that is definitely on the wish list. What are your recommendations?
