Save or Splurge? A Comparison of the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette & Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs. Neutrals Palette

Friends, I'm not even going to try to contain my excitement. I am SO jazzed for you to read this post! Not only is Save or Splurge one of my favorite series to write, but the palettes we're going to chat about today are SO amazing and SO hyped that I've basically been bursting at the seams wanting to talk about them since the moment they both ended up in my possession.

If you're new to these parts and wondering what the heck I'm talking about, here's the general scoop. With all of the beauty products I've tried over the years, I've found that time and time again a price tag is not always an indicator of how great something will perform. Yes, some luxury products are totally worth the investment, but there are plenty of budget-friendly drugstore alternatives out there that work equally well and can save you a ton of cash.

As you're already well aware, today's post is a throwdown between the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette and the Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs. Neutral Palette. Now, I will say this right of the bat - these two palettes are in no way exact dupes of one another. The shade ranges each have their own unique offerings, and if you're a die hard makeup junkie like myself, that may be the justification you need to purchase them both. But with all the drama around the Sweet Peach relaunch and its almost $50 price point, having a super affordable alternative to get your warm-toned neutrals on might just be exactly what you're looking for.

Before we get into the comparison tutorial, let's get familiar with these two lovely little palettes. The Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette is a collection of 18 peach-scented eyeshadows in a variety of warm-toned neutral shades. This palette was originally launched in the summer of 2016 with an immense amount of hype, and sold out in such record time that there was quite a bit of backlash from the beauty community. Fortunately, Too Faced decided to bring the palette back for a relaunch just before Christmas, along with a whole new range of yummy peach scented products for lips and face. As per right now this palette is still in stock and retails for $49.

On the other hand, the Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs. Neutrals Palette retails for a whopping $10 and contains 16 warm-toned neutral eyeshadows in a variety of finishes. Inside the palette you also get a large mirror and a dual-ended brush.

The quality of the eyeshadows in both of these palettes is pretty excellent. Not every single shade is created equal, but overall I can say that I've been happy with both the blendablility, pigmentation, and longevity of the shadows in each.

As I had mentioned earlier, the overall shade ranges of these two palettes are not identical. To me, the New-Trals vs. Neutrals Palette is more like a cross between the Sweet Peach Palette and Urban Decay's Naked 3 Palette than a total dupe for either. However, there is enough overlap of similar shades that I thought I could create an identical look on each of my eyes using shades from each palette.

I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty amazed at how similar these shades appeared on the eyes! While I did share live swatches in my video tutorial, I'll also share the full range of side-by-side swatches for you guys down below. As you can see, some of these shades are really spot-on, while others have a noticeably different undertone or finish. However, I was totally able to get away with wearing this makeup all day long and no one could tell that my eyes were different!

If you'd like to see full swatches of the entire Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs. Neutrals Palette, you'll find them in the review I posted at the end of December. Unfortunately as of right now I have not written up a review of the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette, so I don't have any personal swatches of that full palette to show you. Mainly I felt like the beauty community was a bit over saturated with reviews of the Sweet Peach, especially from the original launch in the summer of 2016. But I am confident that with a minute or two of googling you could find full swatches of this palette if you'd like to check them out.

The final verdict? I think both of these palettes are great. Obviously Too Faced gets mega style points for having swanky tin packaging and making their eyeshadows smell like peach rings. However, Makeup Revolution definitely holds its own and offers some beautiful pigmented eyeshadows for an almost ridiculous price. Do you need to own them both? Definitely not. Will I judge you if you do? Not in the slightest. My overall recommendation would be if you are someone who does not wear eyeshadow on a daily basis and is curious about experimenting with these kinds of shades, try out the Makeup Revolution palette first. Perhaps it'll be exactly what you need and will save you $39. And if you still find yourself craving for more, you can fork over your money for the Sweet Peach palette with a little more confidence that it won't end up collecting dust at the back of a drawer.

If you've tried either of these palettes I would love to hear what you think about them. Share your thoughts in the comments down below?
