Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette
A recent impulse purchase of mine (after hoarding Birchbox points) was the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette. It debuted a while ago, but as per the usual I was a bit late to the party. This gorgeous palette features 20 different neutral shadows that lean toward the rose and pink-toned end of the spectrum. I couldn't remember ever having tried any Coastal Scents products before, but with amazing reviews I thought this palette might be a good place to start. Needless to say, I was not disappointed.
Where do I even begin? There are so many good things to say about this eyeshadow offering it's hard to figure out a place to start. First off, the color selection is on point. You get plenty of variety, with a nice balance of matte and shimmer finishes. The colors themselves are beautiful - from muted mauve, to shimmering champagne, to a glowing copper. Each shade is gorgeous in and of itself, but the palette as a whole is perfectly harmonious, giving you seemingly endless combinations to play with. You also aren't getting skimped on product, with each pan being a decent size. And let's not forget there are 20 of them.
Even with all that variety, Coastal Scents didn't skimp on the quality. I found the shadows to be very well pigmented, creamy, and easy to blend. I wore mine over my NYX HD Eyeshadow Primer, and found that they stayed put without fading or creasing all day.
The palette really speaks best for itself. I've swatched the whole palette for you to see how all 20 shades up close and personal, and also made a quick look to show you them in action.
I'm so excited to continue experimenting with this palette. I have a feeling it's quickly going to become my new everyday favorite. If you're in the market for a pink-toned eyeshadow palette I would highly recommend checking this one out.
On that note, I know you're probably thinking what I was thinking when I looked at this. How does it stand against Urban Decay's Naked 3 Palette? Now, I own and love an original Naked Palette, but I have to say that I think Coastal Scents is really giving Urban Decay a run for their money. Urban Decay does make some fantastic quality eyeshadows, but I really think that these are about equal by comparison. Also, Coastal Scents is definitely giving you more bang for your buck. The size of the pans in both palettes are identical, but you get 20 shades in the Revealed 2 Palette, versus 12 in the Naked 3. However, Naked 3 sets it's price tag at $54, while Revealed 2 is less than $40. Really, the only place that Urban Decay wins out is in the packaging. The slim metal case of the Naked 3 Palette is way more durable (and let's face it, also way prettier) than the flimsy paper packaging of the Revealed 2. While I do think packaging matters, I think the variety of shadows, quality, and lower price point make Revealed 2 the way to go.
If you purchase your revealed 2 Palette through Birchbox, you'll also get 3 shadow brushes along with your palette for only $34! I used these brushes to create the look I shared above and I really loved them. They're a nice size, blend well, and with synthetic bristles should be very easy to wash and maintain.
So there you have it! Another splurge purchase win in my book. Have you tried other products from Coastal Scents? What do you recommend I try next?
