Sephora Favorites Brow Wardrobe Review

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you're slapping on a full face of makeup, DON'T neglect your eyebrows. Heck, even if you're going for a super low maintenance makeup look, giving your brows a little bit of attention makes a world of difference. A strong, clean brow really pulls together any look, and balances out all of your other features. Fortunately the beauty industry has really gotten behind the whole brow trend. There are TONS of amazing options to shape, define, and groom to your hearts content. The downside? It can also be totally overwhelming trying to figure out where to start.

Before you panic from product overload, there is an answer. The awesome folks at Sephora have rounded up some of the best of the best from the brow world in their newest favorites kit. The Sephora Favorites Brow Raising Brow Wardrobe has basically got everything you need to take your brows from blah to badass in a single box.

Honestly, the value in this kit is INSANE. You get 4 full sized brow products, one deluxe sample sized brow gel, a pair of tweezers and a mirror for $40. $40!! You're basically getting everything at a 50% discount, and then some. If you were considering purchasing even just one of these products, it would probably be totally worth your while to invest a little extra cash and buy the set instead. It's also a great way to try out different styles of brow products if you're relatively new to the whole brow scene.

Another great thing about this set is that it's available in two different color profiles. There's a light/medium version that would be great for blondes and redheads, and a medium/dark version for brunettes. The products in both sets are identical, just with varying shades. Since I have very dark brown hair, I went with the Medium/Dark version for myself.

And of course, with all these awesome tools in hand, Sephora isn't going to leave you high and dry wondering what the heck each is good for. Inside the box you'll find step by step instructions to create either a natural brow look, or a bold brow look. And if you're craving even more brow know-how there's plenty more to be found on the Sephora website.

So let's do a quick breakdown of what exactly you'll find in your Brow Wardrobe collection:
  • Kat Von D Tattoo Brow Brush Tip Brow Pen (0.03 oz)
  • Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick (0.01 oz)
  • Anastasia Brow Wiz (0.003 oz)
  • Benefit High Brow (0.1 oz)
  • Anastasia Clear Brow Gel (deluxe sample, 0.085 oz)
  • Sephora Collection Tweezers
  • Sephora Collection Compact Mirror
I'm really impressed by how well rounded and thought out this set is. You've got a ton of options for shaping, defining, and filling in your brows, a highlighter, a gel to set, and even a pair of tweezers to thwart that random stray hair. Knowing that each of the products you're getting has its own unique value definitely makes the $40 investment that much more worth it. Speaking of which, let's take a closer look at each product individually.

I've been wanting to try one of these brush tipped brow pens for quite some time now, so I was really happy to see the Kat Von D Tattoo Brow in Medium Brown ($19) in this kit. This is no where near as pigmented as an eyeliner, so you don't have to worry about your brows looking completely drawn on, however it definitely does sort of give your skin that stained look that will help to mask any sparse areas. It also is pretty budge proof once it dries down.

The Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick in Brunette ($21) is the first glossy brow pencil I think I've ever come across. The tip on this self sharpening pencil is on the wider side, so this wouldn't be great for getting super fine definition. However it does have a few really handy uses. First off, the pigmentation on this is relatively sheer, so you could easily use it to make reference marks for reshaping your brows that can later be corrected or wiped away. It also is great for filling in brows while maintaining a very natural look. The glossy finish is also really interesting, as most brow products are very matte, and I think that kind of texture gives your brows a little bit more hold so that when you brush the product through with the spooly end they stay put.

This is one of those products I've been dying to try for ages. It seems like everyone and their mom has good things to say about the Anastasia Brow Wiz ($21) and I have yet to get my hands on it. This set comes with the shade dark brown, which has a slightly warm undertone and is suggested for use by anything from medium brown to black hair. This pencil has an ultra fine, self sharpening tip that gives you a ton of precision when shaping and defining your brows. The product itself has a very matte, long wearing finish that won't smudge or budge until you're ready to take your makeup off at the end of the day. And, if all that isn't good enough, it's also got a spooly end for grooming your brow hairs into place.

Anyone who's been reading my blog for a while knows I'm a huge fan of the whole creamy brow highlighting pencil. I'm kind of obsessed by the one from Chella, and I've also been enjoying Sumita's version, but this will be the first time I'm trying one from Benefit. Unlike the other brands I mentioned, the Benefit High Brow ($22) has a distinct pink tone to it, instead of a neutral flesh color. This means it'll definitely pop against the skin and will probably require a bit of blending to look natural. However, the formula itself is incredibly creamy, so I don't see this being an issue. You could also most certainly use this product to highlight on other parts of your face, so it's certainly handy to have! The ONLY thing that I am a bit dubious of is how similar this is to the Benefit Eye Bright (which I currently own). They're both creamy pink toned highlighting pencils, so I'm curious to swatch them side by side to compare.

While I've never owned a full sized version of this product, I've gone through many a sample tube! The Anastasia Clear Brow Gel (Full Size, $22, Sample Size, $6.68) is by far one of the best brow setting gels you can get your hands on. It smooths even the most unruly of brows into place, and manages to be totally budge proof without also being crispy or flaky. The clear formula means that it will work for anyone and won't alter the appearance of your brows after you've carefully shaped and filled them.

I sort of see these last bits as bonus freebies. It never hurts to have another pair of tweezers, and these seem decent enough with a fine, slanted tip. This tiny round mirror is also perfectly sized to throw in a purse or travel bag. Together they sort of complete the whole brow grooming picture, rounding off the set nicely.

I really do think Sephora knocked it out of the park with this collection. Not only is it a fantastic value money-wise, but it's also really well thought out and a great investment for both brow newbs and aficionados alike. These Sephora Favorites collections are a great way to build up your beauty stash and to try out a bunch of products without spending a ton of cash on the full sizes individually. Usually Sephora comes out with a whole bunch of great all-around makeup sets for the holidays, so I would be on the lookout for those to launch in the near future!
