If you guys saw my lip product declutter last week, you're probably well aware that I have a bit of a weak spot when it comes to all things lip related. With all of the variety in shades and textures and finishes, its easy to get carried away. Now, if you can live your life with a sole lipstick, more power to you. But I just can't help myself. I like to have options.
Which brings us to today's post. If you want to give me the judge-y one-eyebrow-raise for going out and buying MORE lip products, I understand. But when I saw this kit at Sephora I just knew I needed to swatch and review it for you guys. Crazy as it may be I will probably never tire of trying new lippies, nor will I ever stop being excited to clue you in to a great deal. And this one guys, is a pretty excellent deal. The Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Kit ($28) is the perfect way to sample some of the newest lip releases in flattering neutral shades AND with a retail value of $88, you're definitely getting some serious bang for your buck. Sounds too good to be true, am I right? But I promise, it's as true as true can be.
Inside this adorable lip shaped box you'll find 6 gorgeous lip products in a variety of nude shades. Four of the products are deluxe sample sizes and two are full-sized. If you were to purchase the two full-sized products individually (an Urban Decay Vice Lipstick and a lipliner from The Estée Edit) you'd already be out $37, so right off the bat I can say with confidence that you're getting your money's worth with this set.
Beyond the obvious value, I really appreciate that Sephora put a lot of thought into the types of products that they chose. While the color family of all the products is similar, you get a lot of variety in terms of product type. Each set contains a liquid lipstick, a lip gloss, a lip liner, and three lipsticks, each with a different finish. Not only does this keep things interesting, but it's also a great way to experiment with different textures and formulas if you've never been one to stray outside your lip comfort zone.
Speaking of which, let's do a quick breakdown of exactly what you'll be getting in each of these kits:

Anyone who frequents my blog or YouTube channel has probably heard me go on and on about how amazing the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick formula is. It's incredibly creamy and pigmented, and leaves your lips feeling as amazing as they look. Bite Beauty also uses all food-grade ingredients in their products, so you don't have to worry about ingesting any nasty chemicals when you're slathering it all over your lips. Honeycomb is the lightest shade of all the products in the set, but isn't so light that it'll make your lips look ghostly or washed out. You can also layer it over a deeper lipliner and create a beautiful ombre effect.
I was also really impressed by the Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Créme formula, which, while perhaps a little tiny bit thicker and waxier than Bite Beauty's, is still beautifully pigmented and long wearing on the lips. Slow burn is a gorgeous rosey nude that I think will be flattering on every skin tone.
Having never tried any of the new Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks I was especially excited to see that Sephora was including one in this set in full size. 1993 is a deep brown-toned nude that's super on-trend right now. If brown lips seem a little scary to you, know that I ended up being pleasantly surprised by how pretty it looked when I put it on. This particular shade does have a lot of warmth to it that make it lean a little more red than straight up chocolate. Also, the comfort matte formula delivers exactly as the name suggests. It's a bit thick in texture, but has a lot of slip to it and doesn't leave your lips feeling powdery or tight like some matte lipsticks do.
I've heard SO much hype around the Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian from the YouTube world that I couldn't wait to finally understand what all the fuss was about. This gloss has zero sparkle (something I actually really like) and leaves your lips with a wet, glass-like appearance. White Russian is a barely-there nude shade that will add a ton of shine without imparting a lot of color. This would look especially gorgeous layered on top of a lip liner or lipstick. Also, it gives your lips a super tingly, minty-fresh cooling sensation when you apply it.
As someone who is totally in love with the original Too Faced Melted Lipstick formula, I've been really curious about how the matte version would perform. I will say that it is very matte, and somewhat reminiscent of the Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks. If you're someone who hates the slightest bit of dryness on the lips, this might not be the product for you. However, it is incredibly long wearing and transfer resistant. Queen Bee is a cool-toned mauve-y nude that I think would pair especially well with a smokey eye.
And last (but certainly not least) is the The Estée Edit The Barest Contour Lip Liner. I'm honestly not a huge lip liner junkie, but this is a product I think I could get behind. It's not overly pigmented or creamy, but in a way that also makes it super easy to work with. It doesn't tug or skip on the lips, but allows you to build up the color so you don't have to be so absolutely perfect and precise on the first swipe. In the buff is a deeper nude with an almost rusty undertone to it that would make it a great option to warm up a cooler shade.

Final verdict? I think this set is pretty bomb. All of these shades are neutral enough to be wearable for the everyday, but different enough from each other to make you feel like you're not spending $28 on 6 versions of the same lipstick. I'm so glad I finally got to try so many formulas that I've heard people raving about and put them to the test for myself! Of course I already know the Amuse Bouche Lipsticks are a holy grail favorite for me, but I'm also looking forward to playing more with the lip liner and lip cream.
