I swear, the older I get, the faster time passes. How is the first month of 2017 already behind us? I guess it's true that a lot has happened over the last 31 days, but it still baffles me that it's already February 1st. While I take a minute to wrap my brain around how all of this is possible, let me give you a quick look back at all of the happenings over here in Little Blushing Birdie world.
When it comes to drugstore makeup, 2017 really started with a bang. From Ulta to Walgreens to CVS, I hunted down some of the most intriguing new affordable launches to put to the test for you guys. While there ended up being a few duds, I was ultimately pretty impressed with how it all worked out! I also wrote up a full review of the new Maybelline 24K Nudes Palette, which I was sent to review. If you haven't already seen swatches I would definitely recommend checking them out!
Speaking of affordable makeup, one of my favorite finds as per late has been the Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs. Neutrals palette. This $10 eyeshadow collection is SO good for the price. I even put it to the test against my beloved Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette and was able to create near-identical looks on each of my eyes. See for yourself if you can tell which is which!
Of course, even if there are great dupes out there, I have zero buyers remorse when it comes to the Sweet Peach palette. So many people had been raving about it since the summer time, and now I finally understand what the fuss is all about. It wouldn't be the first time the beauty blogging community has done me right. Last week I shared a whole bunch of products YouTube made me buy (spoiler alert, I ended up loving most of them).
I also got my hands on some brand new skincare to try. H2O+ Beauty sent me a lovely little PR package after Generation Beauty NY and I've been putting all of those products (plus a few more I bought myself) to the test! I shared my initial thoughts on the brand as a whole as well as which products have made it into my daily skincare rotation in this roundup post.
On the subscription front, January was a pretty solid month. I got my Winter Stitch Fix Collection, which was so bomb I ended up keeping the entire thing (#winning). It's hard to pick a favorite piece, but it might just be the distressed denim jeans. They're soooo insanely comfortable and they fit like they've been perfectly worn-in for years.
I also got to try out a brand new subscription service called Luxury Scent Box. For $15 a month you get a really generous travel sized spray of a designer fragrance of your choosing. If you want all the details you should definitely check out my unboxing video. Also, I was given a special promo code to share with you guys if you want to sign up! Enter LITTLEBLUSHINGBIRDIE if you're a new subscriber and save $5 on your first month. It's not an affiliate link, just a little way to help you guys out ;-)
And of course, the most epic part of my January was going to Generation Beauty LA! Even though the weather was basically the worst, I still had an amazing time and took home SO. MUCH. SWAG. I honestly couldn't put it all in a single haul video cause it probably would have been two hours long, but I filmed the highlights for you here. And if you're ever planning on going to a Generation Beauty event in the future, make sure you watch my packing tips video. Please, learn from my mistakes. Your feet especially will thank you.
What were your favorite moments from the last month?
