Maybelline Color Tattoo Review & Look

Left: Fierce & Tangy, Right: Tough as Taupe
I have a lot of makeup.

One could maybe even say too much, but my inner beauty addict begs to differ. And even though it is awesome to have so many options to choose from, inevitably products get lost in the shuffle, becoming forever buried at the bottom of a drawer or makeup bag.

I try to make it a regular habit to go exploring though my stash in the hopes of rediscovering long forgotten hidden gems. And once in a while I'll get lucky and have the makeup equivalent of finding $20 in your winter jacket pocket.

My most recent new-old beauty product I've fallen in love with is Maybelline's Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadow. I had purchased the colors Pomegranate Punk (a frosted cranberry) and Fierce & Tangy (a vibrant orange) last year on a whim for Halloween, needing colors for a firey flame-inspired eye look. They did the job well, but were ultimately thrown in the eye shadow drawer, to remain unused and unloved since. As I've gotten more involved in the beauty blogger community, though, I've come across a ton of rave reviews for this product, so I had to give it a proper chance.
I'm really glad that I did, because these cream shadows are awesome! They are extremely well pigmented, easy to blend, and have incredible lasting power. They can be worn alone, or also make excellent bases for standard powder shadows. And for only $6.99 they definitely out perform their price tag.

I couldn't help myself, and ended up buying two more colors (CVS had a sale for buy 1 get 1 50% off, how could I resist?) - Tough as Taupe (a blueish toned nude) and Inked in Pink (a shimmering blush).

Feeling inspired, I used my new (and old) shadows to create this fall look. I used my fingers to blend Pomegranate punk on the outer third of my lid and into the crease, and Inked in Pink on the inner two thirds of the lid. I lined my top lids only with black liquid liner, and then applied a few coats of volumizing mascara. I finished up the look with a soft pink blush and a dusty rose lip.

So there you have it! Not too fussy, not too dramatic. Just pretty and polished. I'm really excited about these eyeshadows, and I hope to experiment with them more in the future. Fierce & Tangy is going to be a tricky one, because vibrant orange is not something I typically incorporate in my everyday makeup routine. Still, with Halloween once again rounding the corner I think I could come up with some really fun uses for it.

Have you tried these Color Tattoo cream shadows? Post a comment, I'd love to hear what you think! Suggestions/ideas/requests are also always welcome and wanted. Let me know what type of look you'd like me to create next.

Until next time, stay gorgeous!
Lauren
