If you've got oily skin, finding a decent moisturizer that doesn't turn you into a grease ball by noon time is no easy task. Out of the many different formulas I've tried over the years, there's only been a handful that have truly impressed me. That being said, a true beauty enthusiast never tires in the hunt for a holy grail, so I'm always up and ready for moving on to the next thing. That being said, I was pretty darn excited when I found out I was going to be getting a Vox Box from Influenster with the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. This brand new hydrating gel offers continuous hydration throughout the day while also promising to be oil-free, lightweight, and non-sticky. Was it everything I hoped it would be? Yes, and maybe then some.
First off, the texture of this gel is incredibly cooling and light. It's extremely wet and almost watery feeling, but it absorbs very quickly into the skin. Once dry, it leaves your skin incredibly smooth, with an almost matte texture. I actually was a little weirded out the first few times I tried this, because in a way my skin almost felt drier after I used this than before. However, I wouldn't say that the sensation was tight or unpleasant. It also made my makeup go on even more evenly and smoothly than usual, which is always a plus to me.
Perhaps the thing that I was most impressed with about this hydrator is how matte my complexion stayed throughout the day. Usually I get SO oily, especially in the T-Zone, as the day goes on, but with this moisturizer my skin felt smooth and non greasy from the beginning of the work day to the end. I seriously can't think of an other product that has worked quite as well at keeping me shine free! I have a feeling this is going to be an absolute life saver in the warmer months, when even some of my best non-greasy moisturizers can fail at keeping oil at bay.
Another bonus? It smells pretty flippin amazing.
I also filmed a handy little unboxing video if you'd like to see the product a little more and hear me ramble about my first impressions.
Long story short, I think this moisturizer is awesome, especially for the daytime. If you have intensely dry skin, it may not provide the level of hydration that you're looking for. However, for most complexions (especially oily ones) I think you'll be pretty happy with it! The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel retails for a very reasonable $18.99, and should be available at your local drugstore. If you've also tried this product, or anything else from the Hydro Boost line, I'd love to hear your thoughts! Share a comment with me below and let me know what you think.
